Rowe Galleries to Feature Four Artists in October
The Rowe Galleries will feature four artists in three shows during October. The lower gallery will display "Evergreen: Vespiary," featuring work by two guest ceramic artists: Valery Zimany and Daniel Bare, professors from Clemson University. The upper gallery will exhibit two independent shows "Heritage" by photographer and University of Virginia professor Pamela Pecchio and "Into the Screen: Still-Life Moving Image," oil "still-life portraiture" paintings by artist Andrew Leventis.
Zimany and Bare’s installation in the lower gallery will include new work created at UNC Charlotte with student assistance. The Department of Art & Art History has been collecting a random assortment of objects during the past month, which the visiting artists and art students will slip-coat in ceramic to hang in the gallery on Oct. 2.
Math Finance Program Receives National Ranking
UNC Charlotte’s Master of Science in Mathematical Finance program recently was ranked No. 25 in the country by Financial Engineer.
This is the first national ranking for the Mathematical Finance program, which currently enrolls more than 100 students. The 2015 rankings are calculated based on a series of factors, including average GRE scores, starting salaries and bonuses, undergraduate GPA, acceptance rates and the number of employed graduates.
"Recognition of our Mathematical Finance program as one of the top programs in the nation demonstrates the success and competitiveness of a program we have built in partnership with the region’s leading corporations and as an interdisciplinary collaboration at UNC Charlotte," said Steve Ott, dean of the Belk College of Business. "We are very proud of our students and graduates, many of whom are successful contributors in leading financial corporations nationwide."
