Charlotte 49ers FBS Debut on National Television
The Charlotte 49ers, which will make the move to the FBS as a member of Conference USA this fall, will have the season-opener at Georgia State broadcast on ESPNU. The game is slated for Friday, Sept. 4 at 3:30 PM.
"This is another great step for our program," said 49ers head coach Brad Lambert. "We’re excited to have our first game in the FBS on national television. This works out great for Niner Nation - for those who will make the trip to Atlanta and those who will catch us on ESPNU."
The team also has three home games selected as part of the preliminary Conference USA Television package. The 49ers will host Temple, Oct. 2 at 7:00 PM in a non-conference game televised by CBS Sports Network. Two conference games: vs. Marshall, Oct. 31 and vs. UTSA, Nov. 14 will be televised on a to-be-determined FOX network. Additional television broadcasts, including those produced by C-USA partner American Sports Network (ASN) and by Charlotte 49ers local TV partner WCCB, will be released over the next two months.
Campus Noted for Managing Healthy Trees
With UNC Charlotte’s campus footprint continuing to grow, the University is taking the steps to ensure one of the its most valued natural resources is being sustained - trees.
Beyond a source of shade, trees help clean the air and add an aesthetically pleasing element to campus. UNC Charlotte’s commitment to effectively manage its tree population has led to it being named a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.
"UNC Charlotte being named a Tree Campus USA underscores our commitment to create a visually appealing environment that integrates our campus architecture with the natural landscape that already exists," said Peter Franz, campus landscape architect. "The University has remained committed to being environmentally responsible during a time of continual growth and will remain diligent as the University changes."
