Classroom Presentations
Workshops are available to faculty from all disciplines.
To sign up for any of these services, fill out the Workshop
Request Form. We strongly recommend that you require
students to bring drafts to WRC workshop presentations.
Student feedback indicates that they get the most out
of the workshops when they apply writing concepts directly
to their own work.
MLA Documentation
Knowing how to use and document sources is essential for
your students if they are to produce reliable texts. This
workshop is designed to introduce the conventions and
rules of the Modern Language Association (MLA), which
is used for documentation purposes in most humanities
courses.
APA Documentation
The APA workshop introduces students to guidelines used
to document papers in the field of psychology. These guidelines,
recommended by the American Psychological Association
(APA), allow writers to express their ideas in a form
and style accepted by the discipline of psychology as
well as by many other social science fields.
Revision
In this workshop, a Writing Consultant presents information
and strategies on how to revise papers effectively. During
the workshop attention is paid to all parts of the writing
process. Interactive activities are included in the learning
process.
Writing a Research Paper
This workshop presents information on each part of the
process involved in writing a research paper. It teaches
students how to generate and focus ideas, as well as how
to find and document sources related to their topic. The
workshop material can be focused to offer specific assistance
to students writing for humanities, social science, or
hard science classes.
