Rocky Mountain Mission | May 9-18, 2008

Rocky Mountain Mission

Pictured above is the Prince of Wales Hotel at Waterton Lakes Canada, just a few miles north of America’s poorest Native American reservation.  Waterton Lakes and Glacier National Park are so awesome, so beautiful.  But those who call this home live in the face of the ugliness of poverty and abuse. Each year UCF takes teams to Montana to work directly with the Blackfeet Native Americans, the poorest native Americans.

· Stretch beyond your comfort zone

· Explore a new culture and environment

· Experience God’s beautiful Rocky Mountains

· Make a difference in the world

Here’s what you will encounter…

· The Rocky Mountains

· Glacier National Park, Continental Divide, Going to the Sun

· Museum of the Plains Indians

· Waterton Lakes International Peace Park, Canada

· Pow Wows

And here’s what you will do…

· Teach and lead vacation Bible school to the kids on the reservation

· Home repair

· Substance abuse / rehabilitation ministry

Experience

No experience is necessary! You can even learn valuable home repair and life skills as you help provide relief and restoration to aging and weather-damaged homes. Daily winds on the reservation average 40 mph. Over a period of years, home can move off of their foundations.  This is the least of their problems.  Just remember, faith makes anything possible. The service you provide will be nothing compared to the impact you’ll make.

Cost

We still don’t know for sure.  We can say, however, that the trip will not cost more than $650. Energy and fuel prices affect the cost of this trip, so see the sidebar costs for the particular dates.  Never let the cost of a mission trip deter you.  If God wants you to go, we can find a way to pay for the trip!

Lodging and Food

We stay on the reservation as guest of a local church. The churches (one in Browning and one in Heart Butte) have adequate showers, kitchen and sleeping areas. You will need to bring a sleeping bag.  They do have beds. Some may want to bring air mattresses.  Participants will be responsible for their meal costs on the days of travel (airport restaurants, etc.) but all other food expenses will be covered. The team will utilize the kitchen and make its own meals.

Canada
Each person traveling to and from Canada will need a valid passport.

Cancellation / Interruption
UCF does not have a cancellation policy of its own, yet we must adhere to the cancellation and trip interruption policies of the airline when we deal with group travel, as follow:

· You suffer an unforeseeable Injury, sickness or death. The injury or sickness must be so disabling as to reasonably cause the trip to be cancelled or interrupted. A physician must recommend that due to the severity of your condition, it is medically necessary that you cancel or interrupt the trip.

· Your principal residence is made uninhabitable by fire or flood

· You are directly involved in an automobile accident, substantiated by a police report, while en route to departure

· You are quarantined, required to serve on a jury, or subpoenaed

· Our host is hospitalized or dies

· A Terrorist Act occurring in the city of your final destination, or a Terrorist Act that prevents you from reaching Your final destination.

· The United States Department of State issues a travel warning recommending that travel to your final destination during the time you are scheduled to travel, be avoided.

· A Natural Disaster occurs which causes a complete cessation of travel services at the point of departure or destination.

· An airport terminal was closed due to a documented security breach.
