Sara Hilyard  (back to top)

Hi! My name is Sara Hilyard. I am a 19 year old sophomore at UNCC!! I love to read (most of the time), cook (when I get the chance), and sing. I grew up in Charlotte, attending North Meck High School. Currently I am the Silver Wing's chapter President. I am a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. My major is History Education, and I plan to teach high school.

As one of the founding members of Silver Wings here at UNCC, it is something I hold in high esteem. I know that I am not suited to the ways of the military, but I have a deep respect for those who have chosen such an awesome career. Silver Wings is a very easy way for me to show my gratitude toward them.

I hope that you enjoy our web page! If you have any questions or just need some more info, give me an email at angelcorinne@hotmail.com.

The History Of Jon

The end!  Not really.  It all begins with the story of a poor man looking for a............ oh wait, wrong story.  The story of Jon begins with me being born in Elizabeth PA, later to be raise in a little town of Mint Hill NC.  I graduated from Independence High School (Home of Jobey Thomas for any of you 49er basketball fans).  Currently I am in my junior year at the wonderful learning institution known as the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  I am a history major seeking my Education Certificate and Single Females.  I live right off campus with my best friend from high school and two other AFROTC guys.

My heroes are those who put on or have worn a uniform and fought for all I have today, every teacher that ever helped a child make a good decision, and  my mom.  Other notable heroes include but are not limited to; Jimmy Buffett, William Jefferson Clinton, the Editors of Car and Driver, and Frank Sinatra.

So why should you join Silver Wings? Have you have ever gotten chills down your spine when you hear the Star-Spangled Banner?  Have you ever thought about giving back to the communities and people who have given you so much (UNCC, Military Personnel, Friends, Family)?  Do you wish there were people out there that want to be as recognizable on campus as any Greek or other organization?  Do you want to go party in Atlanta or the Nation’s Capital?  If you can answer yes to any or all, its time to sign up baby!

Jen Anderson  (back to top)

Hey!!!  I’m Jen Anderson and I am a sophomore here at UNCC!!!  I’m a transfer student, so this is my first semester here and UNCC is an AWESOME school.  I grew up here in Charlotte; well actually I am a native of Mint Hill North Carolina.  I graduated from Independence high school.  I love Volleyball, basketball, and Softball. I also love to help other people, especially children.  My major is nursing and I am very excited about being able to help other in my career.

I am currently our chapter’s development officer and am very excited about Silver wings.  Before I got involved in Silver Wings, anything dealing with the military was very foreign to me.  I now have a very deep respect for those who are active or involved in the military.  I think Silver Wings is an great organization and it has helped me to finally find a way to not only learn about the ways of the military, but to also get involved here at UNCC.

If you have any questions about how to get involved in Silver Wings please E-mail me at Jenyfly20@hotmail.com.

John Emerson    (back to top)

My name is John Emerson and I am a 19 year old Freshman at UNC-Charlotte. I am a Criminal Justice major and I plan to go into law enforcement after I graduate. I am from a small town in the middle of North Carolina called Bear Creek and I went to high school at Chatham Central. I live with two Air Force ROTC guys who think that they are going to get me to join the Air Force (Yeah Right). I respect and appreciate anyone who is willing to fight for our country and our freedom, but it is just not for me. I want to help fight the war on crime here in America.
