Pi Sigma Alpha
The Political Science Honor Society
Theta Epsilon Chapter
University of North Carolina at Charlotte

Pi Sigma Alpha is the national honor society for political science.  The society was founded in 1920 at the University of Texas at Austin for the purpose of bringing together students and faculty interested in the study of government and politics.   Presently Pi Sigma Alpha is made up of a National Office, located in Washington, DC, and over 460 chapters located at colleges and universities throughout the country.

Besides recognizing students who have excelled in the study of political science, Pi Sigma Alpha chapters also provide opportunities for students to enrich their understanding of politics and governance and develop leadership skills.

The Theta Epsilon chapter was organized in April 1977 within the Department of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte .  Since then, over 300 students and faculty members have been initiated into PSA through the chapter.  In March 1998, the Theta Epsilon chapter initiated its first honorary members as a way of recognizing individuals outside the department who have contributed to the study of political science at UNC-Charlotte.

The chapter sponsors a range of activites.  Some are geared for political science majors.  Others, like the Pi Sigma Alpha Lecture, and A Day With Africa, are open to the university community.
