  4. The president of the Umuofia Progressive Union says, "we have a saying that if you want to eat a toad, you should look for a big juicy one." (p. 7) What does he mean? 

  5. On his way back to his village, the police stop the bus Obi is riding in. What happens next and why is it significant? 

  6. Toward the end of the novel, Obi's mother dies. Why is that significant?
