If a picture is worth a thousand words, it would take a very long time to review the UNC Charlotte Flickr page! Flickr is a photo sharing site with more than 51 million registered users and 80 million unique visitors. It’s been around since 2004 and UNC Charlotte has had a Flickr page since 2009. The number and variety of images on the University site grows all the time.
From images of recent University events and receptions, to baseball and student life photos, the Flickr site is a collection of all things UNC Charlotte.
"Flickr represents a great site for a public, visual record of our activities and events," says Director of Marketing Richard McDevitt. "We took very aggressive steps in 2008 and 2009 to catch up with our social media platforms, and after building those networks for several years, it’s really paying off for us in how we communicate."
As of June 2014, the Flickr site has over 220 albums of photos arranged by event or subject, which cover everything from campus construction updates to special events, lectures, and significant campus ceremonies such as commencement and convocation. It’s an especially popular site with families and alumni as so many of the images will take you "back to campus."
When you check out our page, remember that the UNC Charlotte Flickr site can be used to link or embed photos in your website, Facebook page or Tumblr blog. We’re happy to have the University on display among all of our alumni and friends!
