UNC Charlotte’s Annual Family Day, a Niner tradition since the early 1990s, will take place Feb. 2. This staple event for parents and family members is held in conjunction with Homecoming, a day of fun-filled activities and event to bring together campus, family and friends, and the community.

"Parents and family members look forward to this day all year long," said Assistant Director for Parent and Family Services Kesha Williams. "It’s an opportunity for parents to really see the 49er spirit in action and camaraderie that the students share with their University. It also is great to see how the Chancellor and other University employees support the parent and family members and students."

Family Day starts with check-in at 8:30 AM in room 200 of the Student Union. The Chancellor’s breakfast begins at 9:00 AM in the Student Union Multipurpose Room with a hearty breakfast for guests with college Deans, University administrators and faculty.

During the breakfast, UNC Charlotte students have an opportunity win valuable gifts from the University:

  • A free semester of tuition
  • The Chancellor’s parking space for a week
  • A free semester of parking
  • Discounts from the bookstore
  • Niner Nation Family gear

Please note: The Chancellor’s breakfast sells out every year, so register as soon as possible.

After breakfast, parents can tailgate before the Charlotte 49ers take on the University of Massachusetts Minutemen in the Homecoming basketball game. Niner Nation Family will have a tent for all Family Day guests and student organizations will be present. Entertainment will also be provided. The game begins at 2:00 PM in Halton Arena.

Parents and family members can view the entire schedule and register online. All events are free for UNC Charlotte students. However, if students choose to sit in the section with their parents, their game tickets are $10.00 and may be included with the online parent registration.

Parents interested in volunteering for this event can call 704-687-0341, or contact the Office of Parent and Family Services via email.

The official hotel sponsors are Spring Hill Suites, 8700 Research Dr., and the Charlotte Courtyard, 333 W.T. Harris Blvd., all in the University area.
