Environmental footprint showing? Then do something about it!

Wednesday, March 20, 2013 is UNC Charlotte’s bi-annual Campus Cleanup Day. Also, give Mother Earth an extra hug with the first spring tree planting from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM that same day.

"Campus Cleanup was designed for one purpose," says Devin Hatley, environmental educator for the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling. "It’s one of many opportunities for everyone in the campus community to give back and show commitment to the land, the University and its mission."

Chancellor Dubois has authorized 90 minutes of release time for all faculty and staff volunteers. Participation is voluntary and must be approved by your supervisor based on the needs of your department. Faculty and staff are invited to volunteer by registering via email with Kathy Boutin-Pasterz; students can contact Devin Hatley.

Per Dubois’ announcement, "registered participants should meet at the Campus Cleanup tents located at the Belk Tower, CHHS Plaza or the Motorsports Building at their selected time. Those registered for the morning tree planting will be sent separate directions and location. All faculty, staff and student participants will sign in, receive an assigned area, and get 'litter clean-up' supplies (map, bags, pickup sticks and gloves). Upon finishing their assigned area, trash will be brought to the designated areas throughout campus and extra supplies will be brought back to the Campus Cleanup tents. Each participant can then sign out. Photos will be taken of each returning participant.”

Campus Clean Up is sponsored by: UNC Charlotte’s E.A.R.T.H. Club and Facilities Management’s Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling and Grounds Department.
