UNC Charlotte hosted the Charlotte Observer’s inaugural Solving It Together forum on Friday, Nov. 30. PNC Bank was also a sponsor of the event.
The goal for the evening was to engage in an open, constructive conversation about how elected leaders with political differences can find common ground.
Former members of Congress and others who have built bridges and coalitions in Washington will participate, including Jim Martin, a former North Carolina governor and congressman; former U.S. Rep. John Spratt; and Kimrey Rhinehart, a UNC vice president and former top aide to U.S. Sen. Richard Burr.
Current members of Congress, including Mel Watt, Patrick McHenry and Mick Mulvaney also participated. The forum was moderated by WCNC-TV’s Sonja Gantt.
