With the end of spring semester fast approaching, Summer School registration is open now. Summer School is a great way to complete required electives or core courses, and lessen time to graduation. A wealth of on-campus, online and hybrid courses are available to assist students in meeting their learning objectives.
For 2012, UNC Charlotte is offering over 1,100 courses and sections. More than 160 summer courses are scheduled to be taught completely online.
Dates for Summer School 2012 are:
- First Summer: May 21 - June 27 (no classes Memorial Day)
- Ten Week: May 21 - August 10 (no classes June 28 - July 4)
- Second Summer: July 5 - August 10 (University closed July 4)
Summer School is popular at UNC Charlotte; in 2011 9,588 students enrolled. Summer students come from far and wide; last year 451 summer students were visitors from other institutions including: Davidson College, Clemson University, North Carolina State University, Appalachian State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, Swarthmore College, Emory University, Furman University, Princeton University, and Western Carolina University.
Research suggests that participating in at least one summer course increased the probability of graduation within six years nearly five-fold, with 2.3 times higher retention than students not participating in summer school.
Summer School is a great way to reduce time to graduation - and maybe make some new friends.
