After a disapointing loss to Arizona State on Saturday night, the Charlotte 49ers baseball team takes on Arkansas on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM Eastern time. Should the team defeat Arkansas, they stay alive and face Arizona State tonight at 9:00 PM.
Charlotte is ranked fourth in the nation in earned run average (2.43), fifth in opponent batting average against (.221) and total earned runs (131). The 49ers have posted 11 shutouts this season, tied for third-most in Division I. Charlotte sported the eighth-best win percentage in Division I at the start of this season in the previous five years combined, just under 70 percent. Charlotte’s 75.0 win percentage is seventh in the country heading into the postseason. The 49ers own college baseball’s fifth-best margin of victory, winning games by an average of 3.6 runs per contest. Charlotte has made the NCAA Regional round five times, with a 2-8 mark all-time in four previous trips.
The Razorbacks are 38-20, earning a berth in the NCAA Postseason for its 10th straight season, and the 24th in program history.
Host Arizona State earned an at-large berth, finishing 39-16, including a 17-10 mark in the Pac-10.
