The University’s annual Family Day will take place Saturday, Feb. 11, in conjunction with UNC Charlotte Homecoming.
"We want to encourage all parents and family members of UNC Charlotte students to embrace the University and to stake their claim to the Niner Nation," said Kesha Williams, coordinator of parents programs. "Family is the greatest influence over a student's growth and development. By becoming more engaged with the University, families express their interest in the academic and social life of their students, which often results in greater scholastic achievement."
A UNC Charlotte tradition, Family Day is sponsored by the Office of Parent and Family Services. The office’s mission is to provide communication between the University and parents and families in order to support student success and promote family involvement within the campus community.
Family Day festivities begin with the Chancellor’s Breakfast. Check-in is at 8:30 AM Saturday with the breakfast starting at 9:00 AM in the Student Union, Multipurpose Room.
As part of the event, the following prizes and give-aways will be offered:
- A free semester’s tuition for a student
- The chancellor’s parking space for a week
- Bookstore discounts
- Authentic UNC Charlotte football jerseys
- Niner Nation family gear
Parents and family members also will get to see the annual homecoming parade and cheer on the 49ers men’s basketball team as it takes on the University of Rhode Island. Family Day includes a student tailgate with alumni and representatives from various student and campus organizations, too.
The entire schedule can be viewed online.
All events are free for UNC Charlotte students, with the exception of the basketball game. For students who choose to sit in the section with their parents, game tickets are $10 and that will be included with the parents’ online registration.
