Commencement is a ceremony that traditionally marks the conclusion of one’s academic life, but this event also represents a beginning. Whether graduates continue onto advanced studies, enter the workforce or just start the rest of their lives, it is definitely an occasion to celebrate.
Approximately 3,200 students, along with family, friends and others, will gather for the 2012 Fall Commencement, being held in two ceremonies in Halton Arena, located in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.
The College of Arts + Architecture, the Belk College of Business, the College of Computing and Informatics, the William States Lee College of Engineering, the College of Health and Human Services, and The Graduate School will confer degrees at 10:00 AM.
In addition, several alumni that were recently recognized as individuals who embody the core principles of the University and have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to UNC Charlotte, their chosen field, and humanity, will be honored. Greg Davis '76, and Misty Hathcock '85, '91, '92, '96, and '04 both received the Distinguished Alumni Award and will participate in the morning and afternoon ceremony, respectively.
UNC Charlotte will offer a live video stream of the ceremonies via the World Wide Web. Adobe Flash Player will be needed to view the video stream. More details are posted on the Commencement website.
Residents in the Charlotte area will be able to see a live broadcast of each ceremony through UNC Charlotte Cable Television Channel 22 via Time Warner Cable.
