American Association of University Affiliated Programs
UAPs are located at major universities and teaching hospitals in all states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and territories. UAPs target and engage in activities to support the independence, productivity, integration and inclusion into the community of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Beach Center on Families and Disabilities
The National Institute of Disability Research and Rehabilitation, part of the Department of Education, decided to establish a center that concentrated on families and disability. The center ultimately funded was The Research and Training Center on Improving the Functioning of Families Who Have Members With Disabilities, also known as the Beach Center on Families and Disability

The Institute for Community Inclusion is a University Affiliated Program (UAP) that is committed to developing resources and supports for people with disabilities and their families, fostering interdependence, productivity, and inclusion in school and community settings. The Institute carries out its mission vision through training and consultation; clinical, consultative, and employment services; research, and dissemination via publications and materials.

Institute is a University Affiliated Program (UAP) located at the University of New Hampshire that promotes full inclusion of people with disabilities in their communities. The Institute carries out that mission by conducting a wide variety of activities, including training, technical assistance, developing model projects, serving as resources to policymakers, conducting applied research, engaging in collaborative projects, and disseminating information to a wide variety of consumers.

The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is not a job placement service, but an international toll-free consulting service that provides information about job accommodations and the employability of people with disabilities. JAN also provides information regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

National Resource Center on Community Integration
The National Resource Center on Community Integration distributes bulletins, research reports, articles, information packages, and other materials on a broad range of topics related to integration or inclusion for people with disabilities, and specifically those who have been labeled mentally retarded and developmentally disabled.

The National Transition Alliance for Youth with Disabilities (NTA) was jointly funded in October 1995 by the United States Department of Education and United States Department of Labor to promote the transition of youth with disabilities toward desired postschool experiences, including gainful employment, postsecondary education and training, and independent living.
National Transition Network
The National Transition Network (NTN), housed at the Institute on Community Integration (UAP), University of Minnesota, provides technical assistance and evaluation services to states with grants for Transition Systems Change and School-to-Work Implementation and Development. The general mission of NTN is to strengthen the capacity of individual states to effectively improve transition and school-to-work policies, programs, and practices as they relate to youth with disabilities. In addition to direct technical assistance to states with projects, NTN develops and disseminates a variety of policy publications and other networking activities.

The N. Neal Pike Institute on Law and Disability was established at Boston University School of Law in 1983 to advance the study, research, and development of disability law.

The Transition Research Institute at the University of Illinois (TRI), established in 1985, identifies effective practices, conducts intervention and evaluation research, and provides technical assistance activities that promote the successful transition of youth with disabilities from school to adult life. TRI also serves as an information resource for teachers, service providers and researchers statewide, nationally and internationally.
