Research Associate

Recruited for the endowed University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Snyder Distinguished Professorship, Dr. Diane Browder has extensive experience as a researcher in special education. Dr. Browder comes to UNC Charlotte from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania where she was Professor of Special Education since 1981. She has published extensively in the field on many topics including person-centered planning, teaching students with severe disabilities to express choices, how to conduct preference assessments, supported employment, teaching functional reading and math, and more. Dr. Browder has served as lead editor of the Innovations: AAMR Research to Practice Series and serves on many editorial boards of professional journals including the Journal of the Association for Persons with Severe Handicaps, the Journal of Special Education, and Exceptional Children, to name a few. Dr. Browder's vita includes over 70 articles, book chapters, and books in special education.
