I will be sending out additional details as they become available, but please mark your calendars now so you can join us! Mark your calendars now and make plans to attend the orientation program for NEW graduate students on Saturday, August 18th! Detailed information will be sent from the Graduate School to all students admitted to a graduate student beginning with the summer or fall terms around the beginning of July, so stay tuned. The Central Piedmont Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration is pleased to have as its July 12th speakers three very special guests discussing Ukraine and challenges to public administration in an international context. First, Dr. Bob Kravchuk will be joining us. He is the new Chair of the Department of Political Science (home of the UNCC MPA Program). Some of you might recognize Dr. Kravchuk’s name. He literally wrote one of the major texts used to teach public administration at the University. He brings a wealth of experience to his new post, including years of work and travel in Eastern Europe. We will also have with us Ganna Gorbenko and Volodymyr Onyshcenko who are visiting Charlotte from Ukraine as part of the City's participation in the International House's Citizen Diplomacy Program. They are here to learn about and share with us observations on small and medium sized business development. Obviously, we will be particularly interested in their observations of how government and business work together in the economic development of Ukraine. Ganna is the founder of the new company Avant Capital Ltd., which provides consulting services in finance and investment, specializing in capital raising for business projects of the clients and helps companies in setting the corporate system of effective financial management. Volodymyr is a risk management consultant on an EU-funded project to establish mortgage rules and legislation in Ukraine. Clearly, they will have interesting perspectives to help us see similarities and differences between our two cultures and our public administration practices. LOCATION: Our meeting will be held at our regular meeting place: the Charlotte Fire Department's Administrative Division located at 228 East 9th Street in uptown Charlotte.
