Career Development

The American Political Science Association online provides a pool of resources for starting professionals in their field. Some of these tools could also be useful for Public Policy young specialists.

• Articles on finding a job and first steps on a new academic career.
• October 2003 American Political Science Association (APSA) newsletter also contains some useful resources in the sections Teaching and Profession; for example, on campus visit for a job talk.
• They also provide a good list of teaching tools and resources. (Our web-site has a separate section on teaching resources that is being developed right now.)

Northwestern University graduate school has Virtual Mentor listserv program. This listserv offers weekly postings from recent doctoral graduates and current graduate students, all of whom are in new faculty and post-doctoral fellow positions. Their newsletter contains very interesting and helpful advice on different aspects of Ph.D.'s life and life after Ph.D..
