WHAT IS ACADEMIC INITIATIVES FOR MENTORING STUDENTS?
AIMS is a department in the Division of Academic
Affairs and Academic Services.
What services does
AIMS provide?
AIMS provides academic advising to underrepresented freshmen and sophomores primarily through four programs:
University Transition Opportunities Program (UTOP);
Student Advising for Freshmen Excellence (SAFE);
Producing Readiness of Diverse University Cohorts in Education (PRODUCE) and
Transfer Resources for Advancing the College
Experience (TRACE).
Are services limited?
No! The office also conducts additional academic intervention with
underrepresented students who may not be participating in SAFE, UTOP, PRODUCE
or TRACE, but who are experiencing chronic academic difficulties, by referring them to other university academic programs that meet their specific needs.
