The Charlotte 49ers athletics teams compete on the NCAA Division I level and are members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. 49ers athletics has a storied history and fields championship caliber teams in 14 sports. The Charlotte 49ers football team will take the field in 2013.

UNC Charlotte police officers are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Officers are assigned to protect the campus in cars, on bicycles, and on foot. The Police and Public Safety team periodically offers self-defense and other safety courses to faculty, staff and students.
