The Charlotte 49ers athletics teams compete on the NCAA Division I level and are members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. 49ers athletics has a storied history and fields championship caliber teams in 14 sports. The Charlotte 49ers football team will take the field in 2013.
Atkins Library fosters intellectual discovery by offering an impressive collection of scholarly materials, including robust special collections and the most up-to-date scholarly journals, and services including interlibrary loan and the Writing Resources Center. Students and faculty are encouraged to ask the library’s knowledgeable staff of librarians for assistance with academic research.
There are many ways for students to get involved in campus life beyond the classroom, whether through one of the hundreds of UNC Charlotte student organizations, participating in intramurals or sport clubs, or by attending a cultural event or University-sponsored activity. UNC Charlotte police officers are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Officers are assigned to protect the campus in cars, on bicycles, and on foot. The Police and Public Safety team periodically offers self-defense and other safety courses to faculty, staff and students.
