
About UNC Charlotte
UNC Charlotte is North Carolina's urban research institution. Our campus is located in the piedmont of North Carolina, just two hours from the mountains and three hours from the Atlantic Ocean. A large public university with a small college feel, more than 25,000 students consider UNC Charlotte’s 1,000-acre campus their home away from home.
The Chancellor and his Cabinet set the course for the University and preside over day-to-day operations. Philip L. Dubois was named as UNC Charlotte’s fourth Chancellor in 2005.
UNC Charlotte’s 13-member Board of Trustees is comprised of civic and business leaders, as well as individuals with extensive experience in education. Eight of its members are elected to four-year terms by the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina. Four are appointed by the Governor. The president of the Student Body also serves as an ex-officio member.

Getting the word out about UNC Charlotte’s people, programs, news and events requires a team effort. The University Media, including Public Relations and Broadcast Communications, promote and publish University news, and support the University community through television, video production and video streaming services. The University’s cable television channel can be seen locally on Time Warner Cable channel 22.
In just 60 years, UNC Charlotte has emerged from a small teacher’s college to a large urban research university. With 25 classrooms, an 18,000-square-foot outdoor plaza, and a 300-seat auditorium, the Center City building will help us better serve the region with conveniently located graduate courses and continuing education offerings.
