You must complete and submit the Statement of Financial Responsibility as an indication that you understand the cost of study at UNC Charlotte.

The average cost of study per academic year at UNC Charlotte is estimated at $25,000*.This estimate includes average costs for tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, medical insurance, and miscellaneous expenses for one (1) academic year.

If you intend to serve as your own sponsor, you must indicate that you have the funds available to cover the cost of ALL years of study, i.e. up to 4 years at $25,000* - per academic year (or $100,000).

Your financial sponsor must sign the Affidavit of Financial Support. By completing the Affidavit of Financial Support, the sponsor guarantees that funds in the amount of $25,000* (per academic year) will be available to you to cover your average estimated cost of study at UNC Charlotte.

If you have multiple sponsors, you must submit Affidavits of Financial Support signed by each sponsor. The total amount of financial support available to you must equal (at least) $25,000*.

You must submit a statement/letter issued by the bank, in your sponsor’s name, indicating the amount of funds available to you for your educational expenses.

The amount listed on the Bank Letter/Statement must match or exceed the amount listed on the Affidavit(s) of Financial Support and be available in liquid funds. Bank statements issued in a currency other than U.S. Dollars will be recalculated to their U.S. Dollar equivalency according to the current exchange rate.

Please keep copies of all financial documents in order to present them to the US Consulate when applying for your F-1 or J-1 visa.

IMPORTANT: UNC Charlotte cannot issue Form I-20 (for F-1 visa status) or DS-2019 (for J-1 visa status) until we have received:

• Completed Immigration Status Form
• Completed Statement of Financial Responsibility
• Completed Affidavit of Financial Support
• Bank Statement indicating sufficient funds to either cover costs of one academic year (other sponsor) or ALL academic years (self-sponsor)
