Freedom By Design Chapter Wins 2016 AIAS Award
The UNC Charlotte chapter of Freedom By Design has won a 2016 Honor Award from the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS).
The chapter is being recognized for Phase 1 of a project at Cabarrus Bilingual Preschool that included a privacy fence weave (colorful nylon strips woven through the existing chain link fence), a series of interactive wooden panels fixed to the fence and a large gardening area.
The AIAS Freedom By Design Honor Awards publicly recognize outstanding achievements by students, educators and practitioners who have exhibited an exemplary commitment to the education and development of architecture students. The chapter will received the award during a formal ceremony on Dec. 30 at the AIAS Forum in Boston.
Experts Slated for Cyber Security Symposium
Businesses, organizations and individuals are dependent upon computers and computer networks to perform critical work in an ever-increasing technology-driven economy. As this dependency grows, threats from mischievous pranksters, criminals who steal valuable and sensitive information and nations engaged in espionage continue to increase.
UNC Charlotte is a leader in education and research that addresses the many vulnerabilities in cyberspace. The annual Cyber Security Symposium is an opportunity for attendees to become more aware about important topics and possible solutions in the field. This year’s event is scheduled from 8:15 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, Oct. 5, at UNC Charlotte. Early registration discounts are available online.
For 17 years, this annual symposium, co-hosted by the College of Computing and Informatics and Charlotte Research Institute at UNC Charlotte, has brought national leaders to share their knowledge and leadership. Bank of America is the title sponsor of the 2016 symposium.
