Liquor, Drugs and Firearms

State law regulates the possession and use of alcoholic beverages. In addition, campus use of alcoholic beverages is restricted to use by special permit that may be requested through the Dean of Students Office 217 King, 704-687-2375). Alcoholic beverages may be served (after the special permit has been obtained) in the Cone University Center, the residence halls, the Rathskeller, and in designated outdoor areas. Students of appropriate age may use alcoholic beverages in their residence hall rooms. The University will not tolerate the illegal use of drugs. Where the illegal possession or transfer of such drugs is a state and/or federal criminal offense, the University will cooperate fully with appropriate authorities in the enforcement of the law.
