User Support. User Support provides traditional Help Desk services to the University.  This group’s primary responsibilities are: to resolve as many technology related issues as possible at first contact, to escalate all remaining issues to the appropriate second level groups, and to assist in follow-up and resolution.  User Support can be reached at 704-687-3100.

Training. The Training department has three major responsibilities: to provide training to faculty and staff on selected microcomputer software, to assist faculty and staff in acquiring technical skills that complement the teaching and research process at UNC Charlotte, and to communicate and promote Computing Services events, initiatives, and projects that affect the campus community.  Training classes are held in Atkins 121 unless otherwise specified.

Administrative Systems. The Administrative Systems group supports the core University applications under Student Information Systems (SIS), Financial Resource System (FRS), and Human Resource System (HRS).  Student Services, including web registration, Web for Students, Web for Faculty/Advisors, and

Web for Employees, are also supported.  Various OPSCAN services (e.g., faculty evaluations, test scoring, course grades) are available to all faculty members on campus. OPSCAN and other printed report distribution services are located on the first floor of Atkins Library.

Software Support. This group manages supported software applications, web folders, and e-mail.  Web folders and e-mail can be accessed from any location with Internet access.  Selected Microsoft applications (Mac & PC) as well as SAS and SPSS can be checked out through the Library.  Documents are available via the web to help assist with installing supported software on home computers.

Workstation Support. The Workstation Support staff installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and upgrades personal computers for faculty and staff. They also consult with users on purchases of computer hardware, peripherals, and upgrades.

Network Systems. The Network Systems group is responsible for installing, maintaining, and monitoring all of the University’s central server resources. These resources include the campus e-mail server, web server, file, and print-sharing servers.

Network Services. The Network Services department provides advanced technology planning, development, and infrastructure support for the campus data network and the distributed computing community.

Student Computing. The Student Computing staff ensures that students have access to equipment, software, and documentation needed to support their general academic efforts at UNC Charlotte.  Each of the computer labs provides access to e‑mail, the Internet, and a variety of application programs.  The labs are staffed with technical assistants and are open extensive hours.
