Research
with Human Subjects
Federal law and University policy require that faculty and student research utilizing human beings as subjects be conducted in accordance with accepted ethical and professional standards. Generally, the faculty or student investigator is required to submit a description of the proposed research to the University's Committee for Review or Research with Human Subjects and obtain its approval before conducting the research. The Office of Academic Affairs (Fifth Floor Reese, 704-387-2224) will facilitate contact with the committee. The official University policy, Policy Statement #63, “Research Utilizing Human Subjects.” can be found at www.legal.uncc.edu/policies/ps-63.html.
