Honors College
The Honors College offers academically talented, enthusiastic, motivated students many of the personal and intellectual advantages of a small liberal arts college within the diversity of a large university. It is comprised of several distinct programs, each with its own standards for admission and requirements for graduation. Unique enrichment opportunities, including scholarships, study abroad, community service, executive shadowing, special lectures, and individualized senior projects are also available. Some exceptionally talented students enroll in more than one program. A special honors residence option is also available for all students in the Honors College.
The four principle programs included in the Honors College include: The University Honors Program, The Business Honors Program, The Teaching Fellows Program and Department Honors Programs. A summary of each is provided below.
Business Honors Program (BHP): The Business Honors Program offers talented students exceptional opportunities in the field of business. BHP students enroll in small sections of required business courses at the sophomore and junior levels. Additionally, significant extracurricular opportunities are provided to enhance student leadership and professional business skills. For more information about admission, curriculum, BHP courses and the BHP activities visit: http://www.uncc.edu/colleges/business/bus_honors/ or contact the BHP director, Dr. Jack Hogue at: jthogue@email.uncc.edu .
Teaching Fellows Program: The Teaching Fellows Program (TF) at UNC Charlotte fosters scholastic achievement and professional leadership through personal attention and enrichment experiences. Teaching Fellows participate in special activities that complement their involvement in the regular teacher education program. All students enrolled in the UNC Charlotte Teaching fellows program must apply for, and be awarded a North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship which provides $6,500 per year for four years to 400 outstanding North Carolina high school seniors. Applications for this award must be made while students are in their senior year of high school. permitting students to graduate with honors in their academic
discipline. Academic departments currently with honors programs include:
Anthropology, Art, Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Earth Science, History,
Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and Psychology. In some
cases, graduation with honors within an academic discipline can be combined

for students in a Department Honors Program focuses on upper division
coursework culminating in a senior thesis or self-directed project completed
within a students academic major. To learn more about Department Honors
