Applying with the Online Graduate Application

The online application is intended for domestic and international students who are applying to either a doctoral degree program, a master's degree program, a graduate certificate program, or as a post-baccalaureate (non-degree) student.

UNC Charlotte uses the "ApplyYourself" online application system so that the application process can be as easy and efficient as possible.  The application can be completed online and submitted electronically once all required fields on the application have been completed.

If this is the first time you have used the UNC Charlotte online application system, you will first need to set up your applicant user account by clicking on 'Create Account'; if you have already created an account use the 'User Login Box' to log back into your application.  Please note that you will need to create a separate and unique account for each application that you choose to submit online, and that multiple applications can be submitted for the same term.

Important:  You must have a valid email address to create a user account and to submit an application for admission to the Graduate School at UNC Charlotte.  Email services (i.e.: Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL, MSN...) that allow filtering or blocking of messages from unknown email addresses should add gradcounselor@uncc.edu and support@applyyourself.com to their address list ("Safe List" or "White List") as you will receive important official communications from the Graduate School from these addresses.

The PIN and Password you receive after creating your account will allow you to work on your application over multiple sessions if desired.  When you have completed all of the required questions and are satisfied with your application, you will be able to submit it directly to the UNC Charlotte Graduate School.

Your application for admission will be considered complete (and reviewed for admission) once all of the supporting documents required for your intended program of study have been received by the Graduate School by the stated deadlines.  In particular, make note of the following items:

  • Payment of the US $55.00 application fee using a credit card is required before the online application can be submitted. Once you have submitted your application for admission via the ApplyYourself system, the 'Payment Received' form will be visible. You should print the Payment Received form and submit it with your supporting documents (ie: transcripts, etc.) to the Graduate School. The application processing fee is non-refundable. If submitting multiple applications, note that a US $55.00 fee is required for each application.

  • Note that the official date of application is the day we receive your application and payment online.

  • With the exception of your official test scores (if required), you must collect your application materials (official transcripts, reference forms (if you don't use the online recommendation system available through ApplyYourself although this method is preferred), and financial documents required of some international applicants) and place them in the same envelope with your Payment Received form and mail the envelope directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions by the posted deadlines. The Payment Received form and other supporting documents should be submitted to:
