Welcome to the Graduate School at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte!

Our Mission
The Graduate School’s role is to foster excellence in all dimensions of post baccalaureate studies and is the primary advocate for graduate education and for graduate students at the University. Graduate education functions to explore and advance the limits of knowledge and define the state of the art in an academic discipline. Our purpose is to serve society’s needs in specific technical and professional ways as well as the need for intellectual expansion. In accomplishing this mission, the Graduate School values integrity, collaboration, efficiency, innovation, and inclusiveness in all that it does.

Academic Programs
Established in 1985 with the appointment of the first dean, the Graduate School offers 18 doctoral and 62 master’s degree programs in a wide variety of fields and specialties ranging from architecture, biomedical engineering, computing, engineering, and health administration to history, teacher education, creative writing, business, nursing and social work.

Graduate students enrolled in the University come from nearly every state in the union. International students come from a variety of countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Central and South America.

The Graduate School has nearly 700 members of the Regular Graduate Faculty teaching and mentoring graduate students.

The Dean of the Graduate School is Dr. Thomas Reynolds.

Communications Project Manager


The Graduate School at UNC Charlotte is seeking a dynamic individual with strong, strategic communications experience. Reporting to the Dean of the Graduate School, the Communications Project Manager helps to support the long-range goals for the Graduate School, with a focus on communications and marketing. UNC Charlotte Graduate School Reception

On February 28th, the UNC Charlotte Graduate School sponsored a reception to recognize the accomplishments of the inaugural GASP cohort at the University Hilton. In it's third year, the GASP program (Graduate Assistant Support Plan) is a financial support partnership between the Graduate School and the University's 18 doctoral programs. Guest speakers were Drs. Shane and Bethany Woody, UNC Charlotte alumni and co-founders of a Charlotte based high tech startup company, Insitu Tec, Inc. Interested full-time doctoral students holding an assistantship should contact their graduate program coordinator/director for more information about the GASP program.
