Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF) Doctoral Fellowships at the University of North Carolina

The
University of North Carolina Charlotte is now
soliciting applications for the 2008-09 TIAA-CREF Doctoral Fellowship awards in
five areas of study, Optical Science and Engineering, Applied Mathematics,
Information Technology, Business with a major in Finance, and Organizational
Science. Funding for these fellowships is provided through a generous gift
to the University by TIAA-CREF to recruit outstanding students
who have demonstrated the potential to make a significant contribution to their
profession and to society once completing the terminal degree. TIAA-CREF
Fellowships provide one year of support to newly admitted students for their
first year of doctoral study at UNC Charlotte.
The following eligibility requirements apply to these
Fellowships:
- Applicants
must be admitted to full standing to one of the following degree programs:

PhD in Optical Science and Engineering
·
Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics
·
Ph.D. in Information Technology
·
Ph.D. in Business Administration (Major in
Finance)
·
Ph.D. in Organizational Science
- Must
enroll as a full time graduate student for the fall 2008 and spring 2009 terms.
- The
application for admission to the degree program also serves as the
Fellowship application.
UNC Charlotte TIAA-CREF Fellows
will receive a $25,000 stipend plus tuition support and health insurance for
the 2008-09 academic year. Fellows will also have an
opportunity for a paid internship with TIAA-CREF during the course of their
academic programs at the University.
Persons who have not previously earned a doctoral degree will be considered for
the Fellowships. Applicants from minority groups historically
underrepresented in the disciplines of science, mathematics, technology, and
business are especially encouraged to apply for admission by the program
deadlines so that they might be given full consideration for the
Fellowships.
