Giving Opportunities

The opportunities to support UNC Charlotte are endless. These options are only a small sampling of the ways in which your generous support helps programs at UNC Charlotte. For more information about specific program needs or other giving options, please contact the Office of Development.

Faculty Development

Gifts designated for faculty development will support critical initiatives that enhance teaching, faculty service and research for both senior- and junior-level faculty – those who are nationally renowned today as well as those who will lead their academic disciplines in years to come. You may designate your faculty-development gift for a particular college, or you may designate your gift university-wide.

Graduate Fellowships and Assistantships

Major international research universities are measured by the breadth, depth and excellence of their graduate programs. To attract the most talented graduate students, UNC Charlotte must increase the number of its fellowships and assistantships, which provide critical support such as tuition and educational stipends. You may designate your fellowship/assistantship for a particular college or university-wide.

Scholarships

Academic scholarships bring the best and brightest students to UNC Charlotte. Need-based scholarships are also important, especially as a significant number of our students from North Carolina receive some form of financial aid. We also must increase scholarship funding for student athletes, as UNC Charlotte offers less athletic funding than any other school in the Atlantic 10 (A-10) Conference.

J. Murrey Atkins Library

The library is the heart and soul of a university. Gifts for the J. Murrey Atkins Library will help to maintain and enhance its excellent holdings. Those include nearly 1 million bound volumes, cutting-edge electronic resources, rare books, special collections and outstanding exhibits. Atkins is an invaluable resource for faculty, staff, students, alumni and others in the Charlotte region and beyond.

Center for Leadership Development

Today's students are tomorrow's leaders. It is the vision of the UNC Charlotte Center for Leadership Development to prepare students to lead with integrity on campus and in life after the university years. Gifts designated for the Center will support existing programs such as UNC Charlotte's well-known and highly respected Emerging Leaders and Leadership Fellows programs as well as a broad array of new programs.

Facility Enhancement

Projects include an Alumni Center, a beautiful facility that will act as a new, more permanent front door to UNC Charlotte. Additionally, we will embark upon a campus beautification program to enhance the overall look and feel of our environment. Finally, an expanded Barnhardt Student Activity Center will be an athletic center and much more, enhancing camaraderie among students, faculty and graduates.

Athletic Foundation

The UNC Charlotte Athletic Foundation provides scholarship assistance to over 250 male and female student/athletes participating in 16 varsity sports. Established in 1969, the organization has developed into a vitally important support group for the Athletic Department, pursuing excellence, integrity and pride in the University’s athletic program.

Annual Giving

The UNC Charlotte annual giving program provides a strong foundation for private support at our university. The program provides vital operating funds for priority university initiatives, while also generating much-needed assistance to improve and enhance our academic programs and departments. Gifts received through the annual giving program, whether designated or unrestricted, provide the necessary resources for the growing needs of our university. The program runs July 1 through June 30.
