Air Force ROTC's mission simply stated is to produce leaders for the Air Force and build better citizens for America.The Air Force Senior ROTC Program is designed to recruit, educate and commission officer candidates through college campus programs based on Air Force requirements. Units are located at 144 college and university campuses throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.



Army ROTC

The Department of Military Science for Army Reserve Officer's Training Corps (ROTC) was established to select and prepare students to serve as officers in the Regular Army, National Guard, or Army Reserve. The curriculum is designed to develop the students' leadership potential, as well as improve the students' planning, organizing, and managerial skills.



Honors Program

The University Honors Program at UNC Charlotte provides a unique opportunity for motivated students to enrich their college experience by participating in a curriculum of study that is creative, imaginative, and challenging. The program offers innovative coursework focusing on global issues such as war and peace, economics and the international community, science and values, and human rights. In addition, enrichment seminars introduce students to the arts and the diverse cultural activities of the Charlotte metropolitan area.



International Programs

The Office of International Programs (OIP), established at UNC Charlotte in 1975, strives to strengthen international education at the University as well as in the Charlotte community. On campus, it seeks to make international understanding and global awareness a fundamental part of the curriculum and an integral part of campus programming. To this end, it promotes curriculum development, faculty research, and program implementation in the various colleges; administers the University's English Language Training Institute; and coordinates campus activities related to international student admissions, international students and scholars, education abroad, international exchange, cross-cultural training, and world affairs education.



McNair Summer Research

The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program (also known as the McNair Scholars Program) is a federally funded program designed to assist first-generation college students in acquiring skills necessary for obtaining a doctoral degree. The program targets students who meet any of these criteria:

  • are from low income families
  • are in groups under-represented in graduate education
  • have documented disabilities


Academic Initiatives for Mentoring Student

The Office of Academic Initiatives for Mentoring Students (AIMS) is committed to providing quality academic support services to increase the retention and
graduation of all students at UNC Charlotte with special emphasis on students from underrepresented populations. AIMS provides academic advising to freshmen and sophomores primarily through four programs: University Transition Opportunities Program (UTOP); Student Advising for Freshmen Excellence (SAFE); Producing Readiness of Diverse University Cohorts in Education (PRODUCE); and Transfer Resources for Advancing the College Experience (TRACE).



Summer Programs

The Office of Summer Programs is primarily responsible for coordinating all aspects of graduate and undergraduate, degree-related summer courses for continuing and visiting students. As well as being responsible for more than 700 course offerings, the Office of Summer Programs provides an array of academic enrichment and cultural camps for children and youth, pre-college programs for prospective students, and special workshops and institutes for adults.



Uptown Campus

The UNC Charlotte Uptown facility was established in January 1995 to increase educational access for people who work in or live near uptown Charlotte and to enhance the university's connection with the Charlotte community. The uptown location is conveniently located in the heart of the business community, and is near many of the major health care and cultural organizations. A majority of the uptown students are working toward their MBA, and many will complete the entire MBA program at the uptown site. In addition, many classes are offered in the Masters of Health Administration curriculum and the Masters in Accounting program. Uptown classes are also available in other areas. A large number of continuing education programs are presented at Uptown for students who seek personal enrichment or professional growth.
