Glossary of Acronyms and Terms

 

 

BCP – Business Continuity Plan.  An approved set of preparations and sufficient procedures for responding to a disaster.

 

CMEMO – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office

 

CMPD – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department

 

CMT – Crisis Management Team.  Policy and Decision-making level of command and control under the Emergency Response Plan.

 

Disaster -  An unplanned, calamitous event that creates an inability on the University’s part to provide critical business functions for a predetermined period of time and which results in great damage or loss.  (The time factor that determines whether service interruption is an inconvenience or a disaster will vary among University departments and units.)

 

EOC – Emergency Operations Center

 

EOC Kit – Equipment necessary to operate EOC (Tab B)

 

ERP – Emergency Response Plan.  An approved set of actions and procedures to follow in response to an emergency situation.  These procedures focus on safety, health and welfare of people and will normally precede the implementation of the Business Continuity Plan.

 

Host Facility – Facility where EOC will be located.  List at Tab B.

 

Major Accident/Incident (on or off-campus) – Any event or occurrence that has the potential to disrupt operations of the University.

 

NOK – Next of Kin

 

VC – Vice Chancellor

 

VC/BA – Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs

 

VC/SA – Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
