| Q1. What are the transfer admissions requirements for UNC Charlotte? |
| A1. Transfer admissions requirements will depend on a few pieces of information (year of high school graduation, age, etc). Please visit our Admissions Requirements page for a list of admissions criteria as it applies to your education background. |
| Q2. Will UNC Charlotte recognize my GED? |
| A2. We do recognize a GED as the completion of high school. However, students who are under the age of 24 are required to have a core group of high school courses to be considered for admission into a public North Carolina university. For more information, please click here. |
| Q3. How can I see which college credits transfer? |
| A3.
In order for a course to transfer to UNC Charlotte it has to be 1) taken at a regionally accredited institution, 2) passed with a 'C' or better, and 3) be similar to a course offered at UNC Charlotte. We have designed a Credit Advisor which will provide you with an archive of how courses have transferred to UNC Charlotte in the past. Once students are admitted to UNC Charlotte, they receive a Transfer Credit Report which gives them a list of their transfer credits. |
| Q4. How long does it take to process an admissions application? |
| A4.
It typically takes 4-6 weeks from the time your application becomes complete until an admissions decision is made. Your application is considered complete once we have all transcripts and other documents needed to make an admissions decision. Once your application is submitted, you can check your application status online. |
| Q5. What do I need to apply for admissions? |
| A5.
You will need to submit an application for admission online, pay the $50 application fee online, and have transcripts sent from each school you have ever attended. If you have not received an associate's or bachelor's degree, you will also need to submit a high school transcript. |
| Q6. Do I have to attend SOAR (orientation)? |
| A6.
Yes, SOAR is required for transfer students who are admitted for the fall or spring semester. The only students who do not have to attend SOAR are students who already have a bachelor's degree or students who are admitted for a summer session. |
| Q7. Can I live on campus? |
| A7.
Transfer students are allowed and encouraged to live on campus. We offer several housing
options to choose from: high rise residence halls, suites, apartments, and single rooms. In your
acceptance letter you will receive your UNC Charlotte Student ID number, your username and PIN which
will provide you with access to the online housing application. We encourage you to apply for housing
as soon as you have been admitted by going to http://www.housing.uncc.edu/.
There is a deposit required of $200 to submit a housing application. |

note: Admissions does not forward a copy of your immunization records to
Student Health Services. All students must turn in a copy of their
immunization records directly to Student Health Services. |

materials from the Atkins Library, obtain services at Brocker Health,
and utilize the fitness facilities. The 49er Card is an important tool
that allows you to access your residence, obtain meals, and make
purchases wherever the 49er Account is accepted. You will be able to get
