    Pre-Education Program
   
         During the freshmen and sophomore years, undergraduate students pursuing a major and/or teaching license in education
               are classified as Pre-Education students.  Students complete university general education requirements in addition to
               preparatory courses for their field of teacher certification.

    Admission into Teacher Education Programs
               
1. A grade of C or higher in EDUC 2100,  Introduction to Education, and SPED 2100,
                    Introduction to Students with Special Needs
                2. Passing scores on the PRAXIS I tests       
               
3. An overall cumulative GPA of 2.5 (at UNC Charlotte alone and combined with any transfer credits)
                4. Adviser’s Recommendation
                5. Departmental  Approval

    Student Teaching
                Student teaching is a one-semester experience in a public school for fifteen weeks under the supervision of a classroom
                teacher and university professor.

Second Academic Concentrations in Elementary Education and Special Education:
Each student in Elementary Education and Special Education is required to complete a second academic concentration  which requires 24 semester hours of course work.  In each concentration, students should use two courses  to satisfy general education courses or Related Licensure Courses.
