Former Ambassador of Japan to the United States Ichiro Fujisaki will speak Weds., March 20, from 3:30 - 5:00 PM in Student Union 340 as part of the 6th annual International Speaker Series for UNC Charlotte. Fujisaki will present A New Look at U.S.-Japan Relations with an opportunity for questions from the audience after his presentation. The International Speaker Series is free and open to the campus community.
After serving as the Ambassador of Japan to the United States from 2008 – 2012, Fujisaki was installed as President of the America-Japan Society, a non-profit and non-political organization with a mission to promote understanding between the United States and Japan. He is also a distinguished professor at Sophia University and Keio University, both in Tokyo, Japan.
Tickets are on sale now for Capital Cities, performing live in concert in Halton Arena on April 13, with special guest Scavenger Hunt. Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian, the Los Angeles duo of composers, initially met on Craigslist in 2008. Working as jingle writers, they formed the indie electro band Capital Cities in 2010. In 2011, they released their debut EP with the song "Safe and Sound," an upbeat mesh of synths and melody that spread like wildfire across the Internet.
