New Part-time Master's Degree in Social Work
A new master’s program in the UNC Charlotte School of Social Work will make it possible for enrollees to earn a graduate degree as a part-time student while taking many classes remotely.
The School of Social Work in the College of Health and Human Services will begin offering a part-time plan of study for its Master of Social Work (MSW) degree beginning in summer 2016. Created with working professionals in mind, the curriculum is the same as that offered in the full-time MSW program but allows students to earn the degree in three years, rather than two.
The School of Social Work developed the program in concert with conversations with regional program managers and service staff in disciplines that employ social workers.
New Scholarship Portal for Students Launches
Students interested in applying for scholarships now have an easier way to do so.
The new NinerScholars Portal gives students access to apply for more than 500 scholarship opportunities offered by colleges, departments, programs, and offices at UNC Charlotte with one application, through one online system.
Mark Walter, Director of the University Scholarship Office, spearheaded the launch of this new system. "There’s no question that students will benefit from the functionality of the NinerScholars Portal. In the past, if students wanted to apply for several scholarships, they would have had to search multiple websites to find opportunities they qualified for, then submit separate applications and documents to each department offering the scholarship. Now, they just enter their information once, and the NinerScholars Portal matches their profile to all the scholarships for which they are eligible."
