Charlotte 49ers FBS Debut on National Television

The Charlotte 49ers, which will make the move to the FBS as a member of Conference USA this fall, will have the season-opener at Georgia State broadcast on ESPNU. The game is slated for Friday, Sept. 4 at 3:30 PM.

"This is another great step for our program," said 49ers head coach Brad Lambert. "We’re excited to have our first game in the FBS on national television. This works out great for Niner Nation - for those who will make the trip to Atlanta and those who will catch us on ESPNU."

The team also has three home games selected as part of the preliminary Conference USA Television package. The 49ers will host Temple, Oct. 2 at 7:00 PM in a non-conference game televised by CBS Sports Network. Two conference games: vs. Marshall, Oct. 31 and vs. UTSA, Nov. 14 will be televised on a to-be-determined FOX network. Additional television broadcasts, including those produced by C-USA partner American Sports Network (ASN) and by Charlotte 49ers local TV partner WCCB, will be released over the next two months.

Two Voice Students in National Competition

Two UNC Charlotte music students will compete in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) National Student Auditions on July 7. The students, Hunter Aldridge and Tyrez Dabbs, are both tenors and both study with Dr. Brian Arreola, assistant professor of voice and director of the Department of Music opera workshop program.

To qualify for the National Student Auditions, the two students advanced through three rounds of competition over the past five months.

The National Student Auditions will be held at UNC Greensboro at the NATS National Conference on July 7. More than 150 students will compete in 12 categories. After two rounds of competition, 24 students will receive cash prizes – two from each category.
