UNC Charlotte is on YouTube
URC Registration Open until April 1
Registration is open until April 1 for UNC Charlotte’s Undergraduate Research Conference (URC). The conference, now in its fourth year, is a university-wide showcase of undergraduate research projects. It is sponsored by Academic Affairs, Atkins Library, Charlotte Research Institute, and the Levine Scholars program. This year’s conference will take place on Friday, April 24, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.
The work presented can range from in-class projects to year-long honors theses and everything in between. Students can present their work in poster or oral formats, individually (oral or poster) or in groups (poster). Both formats are judged during the conference and general prizes are awarded by discipline.
Rock Receives Teaching Excellence Award
Reading and elementary education professor Tracy Rock is a recipient of the 2015 UNC Board of Governors Excellence in Teaching Award.
This annual honor recognizes one professor at each of North Carolina’s public institutions. The 17 recipients were nominated by individual campus committees and selected by the Board of Governors’ Committee on Personnel and Tenure. Each award winner will receive a commemorative bronze medallion and a $12,500 cash prize; the honor will be presented formally during the spring graduation ceremony on each campus.
"Encouraging and supporting their development as effective practitioners has the potential to have far-reaching impact for years to come," Rock said. "The full realization of the responsibility and important purpose of teacher education makes what I do not only special but also very fulfilling."
