University to Participate in School Tools Campaign
UNC Charlotte is joining with Classroom Central, Communities in Schools and WSOC-TV for the 18th annual School Tools Campaign, which is a drive to collect and distribute school supplies to children who need them. All supplies collected will be distributed through Classroom Central, a free store for teachers and Communities in Schools site coordinators.
The University’s campaign will be Friday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 15. Donation sites will focus on the collection of the following items: pens, pencils, crayons, markers, ruled notebook paper and pocket folders; however, all school supplies will be accepted. Collection bins will be available at many locations on campus, including Atkins Library, the Barnhardt Student Activity Center, EPIC, and Foundation.
Music Department Schedules Piano Sale
During the past academic year, the Department of Music has had access to first-class standard and digital pianos through an association with the Rockley Family Foundation. To perpetuate this program, these instruments, along with those provided to other institutions, will be sold Friday through Sunday, Aug. 8 - 10, at the Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts.
Individuals can schedule appointments to attend a "pre-sale" on Friday and Saturday; a final day sale will be from noon to 5:00 PM, Sunday.
A large selection of grand, baby grand, digital player grand and digital pianos will be available from a number of manufacturers, including Steinway and Sons, Yamaha, Kawai, Cable Nelson, Story and Clark, Pearl River, Disklavier and Clavinova. Most instruments are less than a year old and are tuned and ready to go; they also include a full factory warranty. Click here for more information.
